Why Therapy
Research indicates that while drugs and short-cut therapy techniques have some validity, the “talking cure” remains a crucial part of solving most problems that lead people to seek help. The reason is that humans are primordially wired to connect with other humans—always, but especially in situations we find trying, challenging or terrifying. Friends, family and partners see us through most of life’s passages. But some crises and longstanding personal issues can seem too much to manage in our usual ways. Developing a relationship with a trained, trusted therapist—a professional who treats you with care and respect, with whom you feel seen, understood and accepted—can be life-changing.
